Greenwood Men's Group

A Website by and for Men in the Greenwood and Nearby Seattle Neighborhoods

We invite you to join us!  This site is an online gathering place for men in the Greenwood and nearby Seattle neighborhoods to stay in touch, get information, share thoughts and build a better community.

The Greenwood Men's Group is dedicated to

  • creating an environment that fosters a strong sense of community,
  • promoting relationship-building,
  • encouraging trust and communication,
  • supporting physical well-being, and
  • facilitating personal growth among older men.

Our mission is to provide a supportive and inclusive environment in which men from diverse backgrounds can foster camaraderie, develop friendship, share wisdom, enrich one another's lives and contribute to the community.  And have some fun!

We have a mix of physical and non-physical activities, either indoors or outdoors, depending partly on the weather. We like to be outside if the weather is favorable.

The non-physical activities are generally a variety of discussion topics. Sometimes a member will do a presentation based on their career or life experience, or we will have someone from the outside come in to give a talk or demonstration. If the weather is poor, we may play indoor games if we don’t have a discussion or presenter.

We take occasional field trips to any local destination that strikes our interest, whether museums, parks or any unusual destination within our reach.

In terms of physical activity, we take walks in local parks, along the beach, and local neighborhoods. We regularly play pickleball and bocce ball. We sometimes play ping pong or cornhole. We may do other outdoor activities such as kayaking.

We will do volunteer work if it’s something that we can effectively do.

This is a diverse group in terms of abilities, interests and backgrounds. The age range of the group is 50-90. Although most of the men are older, we welcome men of any age.

The group grows and changes according to what the members want. Nothing is set in stone. So if you have any ideas or suggestions, we hope to hear from you.

We generally do something once a week, usually on Mondays. The duration of an event typically ranges from 1.5 – 2 hours. We may occasionally have a longer event or have it on a different day.

We have a long list of possible activities, events and discussion topics. We put out an email bulletin about once a week to give everyone a heads-up on what's upcoming.

There is no cost for most of our events. If there is a cost, it is minimal and we let you know ahead of time.

The Greenwood Men's Group's mission is to provide a supportive environment where men from diverse backgrounds can foster camaraderie, develop friendships, share wisdom, enrich one another's lives -- and contribute to the Seattle communities of Greenwood, Ballard, Crown Hill, Fremont, Green Lake, Greenwood, Licton Springs, Loyal Heights, Phinney Ridge, Ravenna, Sunset Hill, Wallingford, Wedgwood, Whittier Heights and beyond.
