Upcoming Events - Greenwood Men's Group

February 9: "Perspectives on Your Upcoming Death" Discussion, 2pm, GSC

As each day goes by, we're one day closer to The End. How many more days do you have? 500? 5,000? 10,000?

Whatever your number is, do you have any thoughts or feelings about dying?

According to the research, men over age 65 generally view their own death as a natural and inevitable part of life, often with less fear and more acceptance compared to younger adults. Many express little anxiety about death itself, although some still experience concerns about the process of dying, such as fear of pain, loss of dignity, or becoming a burden to others.

Do you feel the same way? Or do you have a different perspective? Let's meet and talk it over.

In today's meeting, you'll view a Death Cafe video to set up our discussion. You'll also receive useful information to help you prepare and wisely come to terms with your finality.

Rich will be our facilitator.

movie

Whether you were a biker or not, this film will not bore you!

New Zealander Burt Munro spent years perfecting his classic 1920 Indian motorcycle. The year is 1967, and Burt takes his machine to Utah's salt flats, where he attempts the impossible, using his dream bike to set a new world's record for speed. Based on a true story, the record Munro set more than three decades ago still has not been broken to this day.

February 23: Discussion: "Share a Book", 2pm, GSC

Reading books is crucial for lifelong learning, improving brain function, enhancing mental/emotional well-being, reducing stress, improving memory, and fostering creativity.

Reading is an essential exercise for the mind, offering new perspectives, deeper comprehension, and a way to connect with different worlds and ideas.

So in a sense, books are a treasure. Shall we gather to share our collective treasure?

Bring a book or briefly tell us about a book you have read. It could be the best book you have ever read in your life. It could be what you're reading right now. Or, it could any book you have found interesting, valuable or entertaining. It could even be a book you haven't read but heard about.

If you don't have a book in mind, what about a podcast or magazine you like?

This meeting could be interesting because you may discover something new!

We hope to get Henry, a former bookstore owner, to facilitate this event.
