Hi, I'm Richard, one of the new guys in the men's group. Since joining the group, I've been introduced to both pickleball and bocce and made some new friends. I enjoy the camaraderie and curmudgeonry, tempered with a good dose of self-deprecating humor.
While most of my career centered on computer programming, one of my most memorable jobs was driving a taxi in Seattle for 3 years back in my 20's. At that age, I loved to drive around and it was awesome getting paid to just drive people around. Maybe its the same these days with Uber/Lyft, I don't know.
I still enjoy driving, especially spontaneous, non-interstate road trips. Most recently, we drove back from Michigan UP to Seattle, mostly on Route 2.
The highlight of my bio these days centers on appreciating the good life my wife and I have, together with our family and friends. Giving back and sharing my good fortune has always been part of my life. The past few years I've been volunteering at the Ballard Food Bank and Habitat for Humanity. Even though we call it giving back, I find volunteering to be immensely rewarding and I am continually reminded that we're all in this together.
